Autumn campaign: SEK 8,000 off new tracks

How tight should your tracks be?

To keep your tracks and tyres from breaking or wearing more than normal, the tracks have to be correctly mounted and tensioned. You check it by measuring how far the tracks hang down between the tyres.

How to check the tension

  1. Park on level ground

Place the machine on a flat surface, so that the tracks hang freely between the tyres.

  2. Measure the sag

Measure the distance from the top of one of the tyres down to the point between the tyres where the track hangs lowest.

Diagram: the track may hang down no more than 50 mm between the tyres, measured from the top of the tyres
  3. No more than 50 mm

The track may hang down no more than 50 mm. If the distance is greater, the track needs further tensioning – replace track locks and tighten the tensioning chain as needed.

  4. Check regularly

Re-tighten the track locks and check the tension regularly. Tracks that hang too loose wear faster and can damage the tyres.
